Norfolk Day 2

Well it has been another hot steamy day ..but I can live with 98 F ..it actually feels good after the past weeks temps'.
We spent the day being tourists. We awoke and had great looong showers !!! Did some housework type stuff then headed out.
We took a little water taxi paddlewheeler across the river to Portsmouth. We went to the local mall and shopped around in the air conditioning. And did you know that tomorrow is National Hot Dog Day ? We found a great little mom & pop hot dog place and filled up.
This town is where they build all the Navy ships, NOAA is located here and everything is Nautical.
We are surrounded by HUGE built and half built vessels. The young navy guys travel around in much smaller boats fully armed in case anyone gets to close.

The towns logo is a mermaid so everywhere you go there are mermaids.
Kyle decided that since we are in the Chesepeake he needed a Clam Bake so off to Joes Crab Sahck we went for dinner. Yummmy...messy but yummy. Kelly was not impressed and promply ordered a steak.

Since we have no friends :( we have decided to break the NY trip into 2 parts. We will leave early tomorrow, head into the Atlantic and up the coast. If the mother nature allows we will arrive in Atlantic City NJ early afternoon Saturday...a 31 hr sail. kyle and I will have to take turns helming and napping so we will both be well rested & alert. We have reserved a slip at Trump Marina in Atlantic City (costly but Kyle figures after the trip he deserves to play poker) and hope to meet up with our friend Billy from Philly.

Will blog again Saturday night. Wish us fair seas !
